Why I made it

The Rivian R2's armrest cubby is large and completely open. I wanted a spot for the small things too, so my sunglasses and cards and a charging cable are not all sitting at the bottom.

The R2's center console cubby sits under the armrest, and Rivian leaves it as one open bin so the whole depth stays usable. The Squared Away storage tray drops into that opening, adding a layer for smaller items without blocking the lower bin or the cupholders.

Questions, answered

What actually fits in it?

Three equal compartments, sized off the cubby. Sunglasses in one, cards and a key fob in another, and the third for whatever you are carrying that day.

Does it block the drawer?

No.

Can I still use the pop-out cupholders?

Yes. The tray sits flush in the top of the cubby and doesn't reach them.

Will it fit the R1S or R1T?

No. This is dimensioned specifically to the Rivian R2 cubby.

Can I leave a cable plugged in underneath?

Yes, and the tray is cut for it. It does not cover the USB ports or the space below, and there are two cord pass-through slots in the wall so the cord routes up from the ports instead of over the edge.

Does it rattle?

No. The cubby tray sits flush in the opening with a friction fit at the corners.

What is PETG-CF?

PETG with chopped carbon fiber blended into it. The fiber stiffens the part and holds it dimensionally stable, so it is stronger under load and keeps its shape at higher temperatures than unfilled PETG — which is what a car parked in the sun asks of it.

Is this made by Rivian?

No. Squared Away is an independent maker with no affiliation with Rivian. I am just an R2 owner who wanted one of these for my own car and ended up making them for other people too.

Where do I actually buy it?
